Fragrance Focus: Mimosa

Friday, March 8th, was International Women's Day. Celebrated every year throughout the world, this holiday recognizes the social and political struggles that women have faced for centuries.

In Italy, it is traditional on this day to give yellow Mimosa flowers to women as a sign of respect. Nowadays, women also hand the flowers to other women as a sign of solidarity. The custom of giving the mimosa flower can be traced back to Italy following the end the World War II. On March 8, 1946, Italian feminists picked the mimosa flower as a symbol of strength, sensibility, and sensitivity.

Mimosa's origin can be traced back to Australia. It was first introduced in Europe around 1820 and, being a fast growing shrub, it spread rapidly. The mimosa flower is typically the first to bloom - as early as January - and its fluffy yellow flowers cheer up the winter landscape and indicate spring's arrival.

Our Mimosa fragrance is one of our most feminine and elegant. The perfume has both a freshness and yet a subtle powdery note. It's floral but not obviously so. A favourite with those who love the iconic Chanel No 5 it couldn't seem a more appropriate time to celebrate this distinctive scent.
